Community and Charities

At Flitcham Church of England Primary Academy, our commitment to community, service and generosity is rooted in our Christian values. Children are encouraged to look beyond themselves, developing empathy, compassion and a desire to make a positive difference. Throughout the year, pupils engage with a wide range of charitable causes, including Children in Need, Macmillan Cancer Support, WaterAid, Jeans for Genes, the Ukraine Relief Fund, and the King’s Lynn Food Bank. Many of these initiatives are pupil-led, with children often suggesting charities that matter personally to them — such as the Shine Charity — demonstrating their compassion and growing sense of social responsibility.

Our strong community spirit is further enriched by Flitcham Friends, our dedicated parent-led organisation formerly known as the PTA. Flitcham Friends play a vital role in bringing families together, strengthening relationships and enhancing school life through a wide range of events and fundraising activities. Their recent projects have included cinema nights, bingo evenings, seasonal fairs, talent shows and Christmas celebrations — all of which help create the warm, family atmosphere that makes Flitcham such a special place.

In 2023, the PTA supported a major project to build our beautiful new school library. This much-loved space, filled with high-quality books from The Norfolk Children’s Book Centre, has transformed reading for our pupils. The library was officially opened during a private visit from His Majesty the King in January 2024 — a moment of immense pride for our school and community, reflecting our unique position within the Royal Sandringham Estate.

Through the combined efforts of our pupils, families, staff and Flitcham Friends, we nurture a culture of kindness, generosity and active citizenship. Children learn that even small actions can have a big impact, and that giving back is an important part of belonging to a caring, connected community.
